Dear Sir or Madam,
the Japanese-German Center Berlin (JDZB) and the Mercator Institute for China Studies
(MERICS) are delighted to invite you to the joint conference on June 9, 2015:

“Energy Systems in Transition: China – Germany – Japan”.

China, Germany and Japan are in the process of fundamentally transforming their energy
systems. Based on their own characteristics and experiences, the countries choose their
specific paths of energy system transition: They expand clean energy capacities, build up
national or regional grids and adopt extensive energy efficiency measures.
Energy transition does not stop at national borders, but is a global challenge. There is a need
to learn from each other and to work together in order to effectively tackle the tremendous
tasks of energy transition. Answering to this need, the conference brings together leading
experts and policy decision-makers from the three countries to exchange views, discuss
common challenges, and explore solutions regarding the transition of energy systems.
